The dernest thing happened to Wally and Les

A bit of background.

Most of you know that I retired from BellSouth in 1991.  During my telephone career, as you can image, I met many people and made a few long-lasting (post-retirement) very good friends.  One of those long-lasting, very good friends is a guy named Jack Mills, whom I nicknamed, "Jackson".

Jackson I and started with the telephone company, back then Southern Bell, in the early 1970's.  During the course of our careers, we worked together several times, including the Major Account Customer Service Center.  We both retired in 1991 from those assignments.  Jackson and I have stayed in touch very frequently after retirement.  He's ridden in both of my Falcons.

Jack, as I, has done a variety of work things in our retirements. One of Jack's pursuits is consulting with a few companies using the accounting package, QuickBooks.  I consider Jack a very dear friend.  With that background, on to the "dernest thing."

I was watching TV one evening and Les called me.  He asked me, "Do you know anyone named "Jackson?"

I said sure, he's my grandson.

Les asked, "Anybody else?"  I said that I had worked with a guy named Jack Mills, whom I call Jackson.  Les said, yep , that's the one!

As destiny would have it, one of the companies that Jack consulted with was where Les worked.  Well, one day Les drove his 63 to work and Jack saw it.  He asked Les if he knew a guy named Wally Till.  Les showed outward signs of extreme shock and disbelief (according to Jack) at this highly unlikely coincidence.  Les went on to explain our relationship in the Falcon club and as friends.

Subsequently, we all three have become very close friends, with a tremendous amount of mutual admiration for each other.  We try to get together for lunch as often as our activities allow.  The love of our cars, the Falcons, resulted in these 3 very good friends.  Please enjoy the pictures of our latest lunch this week at Matthews in downtown Tucker.
