Trip Report

INTRODUCTION

This trip report summarizes our recent North Georgia Mountains cruise to the Jacky Jones museum in Hayesville, NC.

Jacky Jones

Seven Falcons and members met at 9:00 AM at the I985 Oakwood exit.  After an hour cruise to Helen, they met Wally Till, who came to Helen a day early to “putt around”.  After a short break at the Helen Welcome Center, we cruised to Hayesville, NC led by Terry Tallant, who made all of the arrangements for the Museum visit.  Many thanks to Terry for setting up this wonderful day.

We arrived at the Museum just before 11:00AM and toured it for about an hour, gathering many, many really neat pictures.  Since most, if not all, of the pictures were taken with digital cameras, nobody ran out of film!

The Carolinas Chapter joined us, travelling together in a commercial vehicle-manufacturer to be not mentioned.  The Tennessee Valley Falcon Club folks met us there as well.  Conrad and Hilda Lavendar also arrived to join us.

Pictures of the museum are available on our secfalcons.com Web Site.  Check out our Home Page.  By the way, Wally has started using Microsoft’s FrontPage to host our site.  Using this resource, he now can do Web Site pictures and updates much more quickly that the hours and days he spent manually editing the HTML code.

Lunch

We lunched at the Rib Country about a half a mile away from the Museum and everyone enjoyed the BBQ.  Y’all ask Les about his wonderful lunch!

Cleveland Car show

We (about half of us) then cruised to Cleveland, led by Dave and Mary Wagner, to Cleveland, TN.  We travelled along Highway 64, paralleling the beautiful and historic Ocoee River.  The rafters were out like ants gone wild.

Again, everyone took a bunch of great pictures, and again many are available on our secfalcons Web Site.

CONCLUSION

After the Cleveland show, about 6:00 PM, we all split up and came home.  Wally, Ed, and Les came down I75.  Terry and others came down through Ellijay.

A good time was had by all, and again, many thanks to Terry for setting up this wonderful day.
